Chelsea ready to fulfill Man Utd's agreed £72m offer for Barcelona midfielder De Jong; Aubameyang only left Arsenal, Chelsea's rivals in London, in January;
Chelsea are confident in signing Wesley Fofana from Leicester and have been handed a £12m price tag for Inter Milan's Cesar Casadei. Chelsea are expected to sign Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang if Barcelona allow both players to leave this month.
Manchester United agreed a £72m fee to sign De Jong last month but he is owed £17m in deferred wages and will not agree to leave until he is paid.
Chelsea are keen to match United's £72m bid and, unlike United, can offer De Jongs Champions League football.Aubameyang joined Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in January.
He still has three years of contract. Although Thomas Tuchel has been reluctant to speak publicly about Aubameyang, he is keen to get back working with a player who has scored 79 goals for him in two seasons at Borussia Dortmund.
Tuchel's priority is to sign a centre-back and a striker this month and Chelsea are growing more confident they can secure a deal to sign Leicester defender Wesley Fofana and are preparing a third offer from down.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan are asking Chelsea to pay £12million for midfielder Cesare Casadei, 19, despite not having played for their first-team yet.
Chelsea are taking a two-pronged approach this summer to buy players for now and for the future. Last week they signed 18-year-old midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20million.
They also signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire and 18-year-old winger Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.
